Why horizontal roller

Built sideways, because your walls are wide.

Some openings are simply too wide for a sash that lifts. Florida rooms, kitchen walls over counters, long living-room runs — that's roller territory. A 2-lite roller pairs a fixed panel with a slider; a 3-lite puts a fixed panel in the center and a slider on each end, so a single wide opening breathes from both sides. Because our units come straight from our family's V&V factory, we build each configuration to your exact opening instead of forcing your wall to match a catalog.

Operation is the part people fall in love with. There's no lifting, no spring balance, no crank — the panel rides on stainless rollers, so kids, grandparents and anyone reaching over a kitchen sink can open it with one hand. Behind that easy glide sits serious protection: laminated hurricane glass that shrugs off flying debris, an interlocking meeting rail that resists prying, and a rated assembly that helps you claim wind-mitigation credits on your insurance. Add quieter rooms and cooler summers, and the roller earns its keep every day of the year — not just when a storm is on the map.

Key features

Frame material

Heavy-wall extruded aluminum with a reinforced interlock at the meeting stile — powder-coated white, bronze or black.

Glass makeup

Laminated hurricane glass bonded over a PVB interlayer, with insulated double-pane builds for the quietest, coolest rooms.

Wind rating

Miami-Dade NOA approved for the high-velocity hurricane zone, with 2- and 3-lite configurations engineered to each opening's design pressure.

Energy efficiency

Low-E coatings and gray or bronze tints tame the afternoon sun across big glass spans — less heat gain, lower A/C bills.

Recent installs

Rollers gliding across the tri-county.

Technical data

Series 200 horizontal roller: what the NOA certifies.

The V&V Series 200 is the roller we build for South Florida openings, in two-lite and three-lite configurations. Every opening is checked against these limits at the free measure; where a wall needs more than the guaranteed rating, we specify the upgraded glass and anchoring the approval allows.

Good to know

Horizontal roller questions, answered.

A 2-lite roller has two panels — typically one fixed, one sliding — and suits most standard-wide openings. A 3-lite roller splits the opening into three panels, usually with a fixed center and two sliders, so very wide walls get ventilation from both sides. We recommend the configuration opening by opening during your free estimate.

Rollers cover wider openings than any other operable impact style — where a single-hung runs out of room, a 2- or 3-lite roller keeps going. The exact maximum depends on the design pressure engineered for your specific opening, which is why we measure on site and match each opening to its Miami-Dade approved configuration.

Very little. An occasional rinse and vacuum of the sill track keeps sand and salt from building up, and the stainless rollers glide for years without adjustment. Unlike cranks or spring balances, there is no hardware under tension to wear out.

Yes. Our horizontal rollers use laminated impact glass in a reinforced interlocking frame and carry a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance for the high-velocity hurricane zone. The panels lock into the frame and each other, so there are no shutters or panels to wrestle with before a storm.
